A stalwart in domestic cricket for Bengal – Deep Dasgupta is bringing in technology to serve the budding cricketers across the globe to hone their skills. The former India wicket-keeper-batsman Dasgupta has launched an online platform to train the young cricketers and helping them attain their goal.

The eight Tests veteran, Dasgupta made a mark in his debut, knocking a century against Baroda in Ranji Trophy. His ability behind the stumps and with the bat made him a reliable member in the Bengal side. He soon was roped in the Indian side and made his debut in 2001 against South Africa.

Later in that year, Deep Dasgupta brought his maiden Test century against England in Mohali. But following a dent in the form, Deep’s had a short international career. But he continued his brilliance in domestic cricket guiding them to the finals in 2006 and 2007 in Ranji Trophy. He scored 3806 runs from 83 matches in first-class cricket before calling time on his career in 2009.

Since then, he has performed the role of a national selector and currently is one of the popular commentators in the country. Despite that, coaching holds a special place in Deep Dasgupta’s life and he has taken an innovative idea to help the promising cricketers on the internet. The 42-year-old launched his own website; deepdasgupta.com, where he provides classes to youngsters.

“I’ve always been very passionate about coaching. Have got my coaching batches too but just that I didn’t have the time to physically be there to coach. At the same time, I keep getting a lot of people sending videos or asking questions through social media but didn’t have the technology to help them out properly,” Deep Dasgupta said to Cricfit

“Now with some time in hand, gave a proper thought to the concept of online coaching along with a friend of mine and developed this coaching software, on the lines used by professional players, coaches and teams. I’m very excited about this because I think this is a game-changer,” he added. Speaking further, Deep Dasgupta revealed that he has plans of taking up full-time coaching sometime later. Previously, the former cricketer has already worked with Bengal in the domestic circuit and also with the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

“I have been part of the Bengal set up before and also at NCA. Would love to get into coaching,” Deep concluded.
