It was only a week back that the Chennai Super Kings were drowning in a pool of miseries. Firstly 13 members of their contingent tested COVID-19 positive, followed by an abrupt departure of Suresh Raina from UAE. A few days later, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh also made statements to pull back from the fancy league owing to some personal reasons. All of this delayed the outdoor sessions of the franchise by a week.

However, in the latest turn of events, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar has tested COVID-19 negative and been declared fit to join back the squad. Despite all the setbacks, CSK all-rounder Shane Watson feels good about the team and believes that the Yellow Army will put up a great show in the upcoming IPL. According to him, experience matters a lot, and the team has got it.

“Having an experienced team means your players have more understanding of being able to get their skills to execute under pressure from game one,” Watson said on Nabeel Hashmi’s YouTube show.

The Australian all-rounder feels that CSK has a great chance given the experience they have, and players even know how to handle the game in pressure situations. In this case, the probability of making mistake also lessens.

“That is why we believe we’ve got a great chance of having a great year because of the quality of players and the experience we’ve got. We’ve got more chance of not making many mistakes trying to get up to speed as quickly as we possibly can,” said Watson.

After bowing out of international cricket in 2016, Watson has been plying his trade all over the globe in the T20s. He even praises CSK’s leadership a lot that helped him during a weak season last year.

“I’ve sort of been away playing T20 tournaments on and off for the last four years or so,” he said. “I have more of an understanding (now), but still, it’s a challenge to be able to get your skills up. The 2018 season was one of my better seasons, it wasn’t just the final (where Watson made a match-winning century),” he concluded.
